Only to run Reelo: signing you in, storing and delivering your videos, showing you analytics, sending account and notification emails (which you can switch off in Settings → Preferences), billing, preventing abuse, and support. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Transcripts are generated in your own browser: your audio is not sent to Reelo or anyone else for transcription. To do this, your browser downloads an open speech-recognition model from Hugging Face; no recording data is sent with that download. Suggested titles, summaries, notes and translations are produced in your browser too, using its built-in on-device AI where available. If an optional server AI feature is enabled for paid plans, the transcript text (not the video) is sent to Anthropic to generate the result; Anthropic does not use it to train its models.
If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and Google account ID. If you connect Google Drive (Sovereign plans), we request the drive.file permission, which only gives Reelo access to files Reelo itself creates in your Drive. We use it solely to store and play back your recordings, and we keep the access tokens needed to do so. You can disconnect at any time in Settings or from your Google account. Reelo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We use Render (hosting), Cloudflare R2 (video storage), Stripe (payments), Brevo (email), Google (sign-in and Drive, if you use them), and, only if enabled, Anthropic (AI). Each processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms.
We keep your sign-in token and interface preferences in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting a video removes it from our storage; videos with an expiry date are deleted automatically when they expire. Deleting your account (Settings → Danger Zone) deletes your videos and personal data. Encrypted database backups are kept for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict how we process it. Most of this is available in Settings; for anything else, including a copy of your data, email support@reelo.team and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed and backups are encrypted. Sovereign plans also encrypt video files with AES-256-GCM using keys that stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers; titles and transcripts are still stored on our servers so they stay searchable.
Reelo is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
The Reelo browser extension requests access to all sites solely to show a floating recording-controls bar on the tab you're recording and to let you start a recording from any page. Specifically:
Uninstalling the extension removes the locally mirrored sign-in token immediately.
If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you by email or in the app.
